Never Miss AN Opportunity has been drilled into mine and my sister's heads since we were kids. My mom has said it constantly. Because of her saying this I have seen and done MUCH!
When I went away to college in 94 to study fashion design I wanted to be the next Coco Channel. When I graduated in 96 with an AA in Fashion Design I really wanted to do couture or sample making. I ended up moving back to Stockton and working retail. A few years later I was taking some classes at Delta with a friend and I realize I was 4 units away from an AA in Fashion Merchandising. In the spring of 2002 I graduated with a second AA in the fashion industry working in retail again.
Again a few years have past and I have my dream JOBS, yes 2. I have been lucky enough to be making sample quilts for the new quilt store in Manteca Ladybug's Quilts and I get to help with some of the merchandising of the store. The bonus is NO customer service. Now I am not an employee, I am a friend helping out. I truly am enjoying not missing an opportunity.

LuAnne This One is For YOU!!!
Okay I just got home from the Manteca Library for Tuesday Night Sew. I decided that I did not want to pack down my sewing machine, which in turn means I wasn't going to work on the Alien Quilt or my Mystery Quilt. I needed to find something to work on. My Mom is saying "Just Stay Home!" "Hi Mom! Get to work. Cut somebody off!"
SO at 5:30pm I was checking my e-mail, Yes mom still over 300 in the inbox. I found an e-mail from All People Quilt. When I opened it there was a link for a Blue Jeans Quilt. So I figured I could grab the bag of jeans that have been sitting in my sewing studio and get to cutting.
I have split all my jeans so I can cut the block pieces out of them and I started cutting one pair into blocks. My problem is that most of my denim is the same color. I need to see if Scott has some dark questionable pairs that my need cut up. This most likely will become an UFO for next year.
*If you click on the words Blue Jeans Quilt above, it will take you directly to the quilt directions.

Half Way Point
Well the year is half over. Time to reflect and time to plan. Man where did the time go?
Reflect:
I have been trying to work on my New Year's Goals. I have actually done well on them. I have finished 5 of the 15 UFO's. We cook at home most nights. I have clean a little of the garage. I have cleaned a few cupboards and 1 closet. I even tossed in my dresser, emptied it completely! I have slacked off on pictures to my blog. I'll try harder. I have even done a little scrapbooking, not much though.
Plan:
I actually have a quilt loaded on my quilting frame, I just need to hook my machine back up and sew. I have another quilt that I need to add sashing between the rows and it is ready to quilt. That will take me to the half way point on UFO's.
I am hoping to knock out a little of the garage tomorrow. Scott has the day off.
I also need to start working on Christmas gifts. My theme this year is the Kitchen. Yep the Kitchen. I got paper and fabric today to start on my ideas! I am excited about them.
I also need to update the Christmas card list. I am thinking of making my own cards again this year, 125 of them!
So have you taken the time to reflect and plan for the year. We are at the half way point.

Surgery Date
I JUST got the call. Poop's surgery is scheduled for July 30th at 7:30am at Dameron Hospital. It is an out patience surgery, we will only be their a few hours. The surgery is only a 20 minute process.
Poop is like Aunt Linda and doesn't come out of anaesthesia well. So she will puke, get cleaned up, drink something and head home. I think we will be home before lunch.
I will post more when I know anything.

Adventures In Potty Training!
I promise not to bore you with every potty training detail BUT I thought I would share with you Scott and potty training. Poop has shown interest in using the potty. So last weekend I went to meet my friends for coffee and told Scott to pay attention in case Poop wants to use the potty.
So I get home from coffee and Poop announces "Take dump Mom! Take dump!" Great. I let Scott know we really need to call it potty or bathroom. I thought this was the only damage Scott did in a few short hours unsupervised with Poop. WRONG!!! I found out later in the week she also learned "Gotta Crap."
The people in the Manteca Target thought both of these were funny on Saturday. Poop has no shame and will loudly announce both phrases repeatedly.
The moral of this story is:
1. Don't let a construction worker have ANY influence on your small children.
2. Don't complain that your husband doesn't help with the kids. It will do more harm than good.

Health Update
As you know Poop has been suffering with Sinus Infections every 4 weeks since last Christmas. Two weeks ago she had her blood drawn to do two Allergy Test panels. Last Wednesday both panels came back negative. Which was good and bad news. We are very happy to learn she is not allergic to anything but this meant we didn't have the answer to the Sinus Infections. I asked the nurse if we could get her Adenoids checked. They don't do that until she has 6 sore throats in 12 months. I am still not sure what the sore throat has to do with the Adenoids.
This past Monday she had her one year check up on her tubes. They are still in place and look good. One is starting to come out but her ENT doctor says that is fine. I asked him about the Sinus Infections. He sent us over to the hospital to have a full set of Sinus x-rays and had us carry them back. The ENT doctor took one look and said "Her Adenoids are too big. We're doing surgery." I did ask if we could do the tonsils too, he said no they are fine. We are waiting the call from the doctor's office to set the date for the surgery. I do know that it will be sometime in the next 4 weeks.
After all that fun on Monday afternoon, we still had to take Poop to another doctor appointment. She woke up with Pink Eye! in both eyes! She is doing much better. It is gone from her left eye and the right eye should be clear by the weekend. She is even laughing and playing when we put in the drops.

Happy Father's Day!!!
Today Scott and Delaney are spending sometime with his dad. Poop took over home made Peanut Butter and Chocolate cupcakes to share with Grandpa Clyde. When they get home with any luck it will be nap time and we can head to my parents. The plan is to BBQ at 5pm. I am hoping to go over early, have Poop take a nap and I can get my quilt done that is on the quilting machine.
Scott got the gift that keeps on giving, for gallons. Gift Cards to BevMo to buy a keg. The one in the beverage entertainment center is empty. My dad is getting a gift card to Jamba Juice and Clyde got coffee.
I did get to work on my Mystery quilt this morning, everyone else slept in. I now have step 2 done. I should be working on step 4. This years quilt is Chocolate brown, lite blue and a touch of lime. It is looking good! I am hoping by the end of this month I will have step 4 cut out. Cross you fingers!
I also posted a tutorial for a travel pillow case over at SSEP. Link is also on the left.
