What did you do this weekend?

It all seems like a blur. I don't even remember Saturday. I know we had one but I don't really remember it. My weekend started Thursday, it was my day off. I cleaned house all day and went to the Quilt Guild meeting that night. Not very exciting.

Friday was a lot better. I got to spend Friday with to wonderful ladies from my guild, Peggy and Pat. I was asked to help them put together gift baskets that will be raffled off at our Quilt show this weekend, March 1st and 2nd at the Manteca MRPS Hall. I think we will have about 20 FABULOUS baskets. They are amazing!!! This also included an educational lunch break at Chili's, we got quilting tips from our retired quilter Peggy. Around 4pm we finished and then it was rush home to make my brownies and set up from my Stampin' Up party. Ten of my friends came over and made a cupcake bag and a birthday card. Here they are:

Saturday was back to work. I know I took a nap because I only got 4 hours of sleep the night before. I started quilting the Bordello quilt, which is lookin' good. The it was off to Fashion Bug, I needed something to wear for the Glenwood Crab feed. Our Friend Harmony babysat Poop. This is the first time we have left her with someone other than a family member. Harmony survived and Poop was not tramatized. SUCCESS! At the crab feed we won the auction for 1 hour of Harp playing, which will be used for our friend Monica's wedding.

Sunday was my Tuesday back to work. When I got home Scott took off for West Sacramento. He and Joe had a few finishing touches on the 2 houses they built. Renters will be moving in next week! While Poop napped I quilted some more on the Bordello, I'm more than half way not counting the borders. Also I managed to make a few cards.

Last week I made 28 cards. These are the 4 styles, I make 6 to 10 of each style.

Just My Thought

The past few months have been very hard on many of my family and friends. Many have had major health issues. Many are fighting a good fight. Some have won. And some are trying to stay comfortable until the end.

I had heard more than once that someone hasn't called a loved one because they don't want to bother them. Let me tell you STOP reading my blog and pick up the phone. None of us are promised tomorrow. You might not get a chance to make the call later. I am sure the person you are thinking of calling would love to hear from you. Remember others aren't calling either and now is the time your loved one could use the support.

Productive Weekend!

What did you get done on your long weekend? I got to have Sunday off, and man did WE get some stuff done!

I finished the album for the girls school Crab Feed and Auction. I had probably 80% of the stuff in my stash! I put together a scrapbooking basket for the raffle at the Manteca Quilt Show. I had everything but the storage container. I made some more cards. AND I machine quilted a UFO! This one has been in the works for a year! I am hoping to trim it up tomorrow night and bind it this week. I also whipped up a batch of Red Velvet cupcakes, from scratch.

This is last weeks batch of cards. My favorite is the fish card, he spins back and forth. I made 10 of them!

This is part of the quilt I worked on. I did a vine thingy is the white border and the pinwheel looking blocks I did a daisy looking flower.

Scott spent most of Sunday under the house. Yes UNDER the house. He is in about 66% of the way done insulating the floor. It is already making a difference. After he gets the insulation in he has to go back and put up netting so it doesn't fall down.

Asking For Your Help Again

As some of you have read through other blogs you know that my friend Dear Gina has suffered a great loss this past week. While she was vacationing in Maui this week, two of her sons were in a car accident here. Her middle son was died and her oldest son is in ICU. Please keep Gina and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you.

The Bordello Quilt Story

It all happened 6 years ago at the Manteca Quilt Guilds annual quilt show, which is March 1st and 2nd at the the MRPS hall in Manteca this year. I was shopping with my mom in a booth that 2 men were working. They were looking at the quilt patterns and found one for a Bordello Quilt. Both men were very excited that there is a pattern for a Bordello quilt. They wanted their wives to make them a Bordello quilt. I looked at my mom and asked what are they talking about. Why does a Bordello need a quilt? was my thought. So we worked our way toward them to see the pattern. It was really a pattern for a Bargello Quilt. We tried very hard not to fall into the floor laughing at the two men. Soon after their wives return. The men asked why they haven't made them a Bordello Quilt. They wanted one. You would think since their wives owned a quilt store they could at least make their husbands a quilt. The two women were trying to figure out what the two men were talking about. Finally one husband got the pattern to to show the wives what they wanted. The wives decided they were never going to take the husbands to another quilt show.

Of course me and mom had to stay close to the booth to see how the whole thing went down. It was so funny to watch. So since that one Sunday afternoon in March the Bargello quilt has always been referred to as a Bordello quilt for me and mom.

No Spend Pay Yourself $2 Challenge

I joined this Challenge on that Paper Crafts Magazine website. It started on Feb 1st and will go to April 30th. The Challenge was to not go out to buy supplies but use what you have to create stuff. Each of us in the challenge had to alter a container to hold our money in, I used a pint paint can. Then as you create you Pay Yourself $2.

The payment break down is $2 for each of the following:
Each scrapbook layout (single or double)
Each piece of altered art
For every 2 cards
Each mini album
For every 2 sets of card candy

My Goal is to have paid myself enough to pay for one of our tickets to Maui at the end of the 3 months. I should be able to do it too. I am making a scrapbook for the crab feed auction, 12 doulble and 1 single layouts, total of $26. I am also making 30 baby shower favors, total $60. I have been working on invitations and prizes for my Stampin' Up party at the end of the month. I also have a few swaps I am in to help add to my totals.

As the challenge progresses I will keep my totals updated for you all, at the left. Also I will post my creations as I go. I am guessing that a ticket to Maui is going to be between $400 and $500. Wish me luck!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Man we have been busy! I have been working on a few swaps, getting ready for a Stampin' Up party and Poop is Turning 2!

It seems like this is the time of year for everyone at work to take vacations. I was the first at the begining of the year and we have had one a week since. Another 2 weeks things will be back to normal for a little bit!

I have been making cards and altering all kinds of things for swaps, invitations and gifts. Here are a few:
Purse for Not So Secret Sister Valentine Purse Swap

This is my Altered Money container for the No Spend Pay Yourself $2 Challenge, more about that later.

These are a few of the cards I have been working on. The first is the invitation to my SU party, second was just because, third I made for my Monday Morning Mailer swap, myself and a set for a friend, and the last for a circle journal swap and made some extra for me.
I have also been working on the bordello quilt. I will have the borders on it next week, along with a picture. I have also been working on my Dazzling Diamonds quilt. This is my current UFO to complete project. I am hoping to get it to Gina at the first of March.

Scott and 9 friends went to the Cabella's Grand Opening in Reno 2 weeks ago. They had a great time, no one got thrown out of a casino on this trip. They all 10 got sicker than a dog the following week and are still whinning about being sick.
