Then End Is Near...

It has been a busy year. We started the year me not working, Delaney not walking and talking, and Scott well he's just Scott.

So let's do a quick recap of out year...

Me - I did get some UFO's done but I think I added more to the pile. I got a few projects done around the house. I have cooked dinner more this year than any year previous. I did get to read and even got in one classic, something by Willie the Englishman. I went back to work for Food 4 Less. And even managed a few vacations, weekend quilting in Monterey with friends, a week in Texas visiting with friends and a weekend cruise to Mexico with even more friends.

Delaney - She has done so much where do you start. She is walking, running and jumping. She talks all the time and is learning to count and say her ABC's. She tries to ride her bike. She can climb out of her crib. And is asking to sit on the potty.

Scott - He has worked on 5 different jobs but did not have to work in Reno. He finished ripping out the trees in the front yard. Is still repairing and driving the Blazer, even after the wheel falling off. Got to go squirrel hunting. Also finished siding and painting the outside of the house.

Now for the predictions of 2008. Me I will work on some of my UFO's, some will get finished some will be added. Poop will be potty trained, and Scott will get to go deer hunting.

Have a Happy and Safe New Year!

Christmas Memories and Traditions

Again I am caving to peer pressure. Like my friends that blog I am going to share some of our Christmas memories and traditions with all of you.

For me we always spend Christmas Eve at my mom's parents house, filled with family. When I was young their was only 5 girls all of us 1 year apart in age. We would get a phone call in the weeks before Christmas asking us what we would like from our grandparents. Whatever we asked for would be under the tree. I remembering asking for and getting the Barbie Motor Home and a rabbit fur coat. We have now grown to 12 grandchildren and many greats. We always went to see the Grinch House up on the river and listened to the story. Of course the drive down Meadow to see all the lights.

Christmas Eve while we were at the party Santa would always make a quick stop to drop off 1 gift. We would get to open one gift and only one gift one Christmas Eve night. Funny it was always the same pajamas. One year Santa didn't come early and we didn't get to have new pajamas. The next year my mom made sure the pajamas were under the tree. As we got older we new which package to look for, there was always a small "p" on the corner of the label. The theory was you had to have new Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve so you looked good Christmas morning for pictures while opening gifts. This is a tradition that has carried over to my and Linda's kids.

Christmas morning my dad's mom and husband, Granny and Grandpa would could over to watch us open gifts, they lived within walking distance even for a 3 year old. My parents would always make breakfast. Then we were to get ready to go to my aunt's to have Christmas dinner with my dad's side of the family.

One of the things Scott loves is going to my Uncle Tom and Jim's house to see ALL the decorations. It is truly amazing. The entire house inside and out is decorated top to bottom. It should be in magazines. I he usually does 3 full size trees. The one tree in the living room has over 3000 ornaments and it is only a 7 1/2 foot tall tree! The first time we went to see the house was a few years ago we were stunned. They had had a party the weekend before Christmas and some candles had caught the living room on fire, not to bad. So instead of cancelling Christmas Eve at their house Jim cleaned all the furniture and carpet AND painted the living room good as new all in 3 days time! WE are looking forward to see the house again next year. When I grow up I want my house to be half as great as Jim's!

We still carry on some of our traditions with Delaney. Santa brings the Christmas Jammies while were out and then comes back with the toys while we sleep. We make breakfast at home Christmas morning. Of course we drive down Meadow many times, filled with cool, mom! mom!, wow, and more. Merry Christmas!

Happy Hour

Delaney decided she needed a cocktail since dad was having one. She drug a kitchen chair over and got out one of my JUMBO Margarita glasses, brought it to me at the computer and said "dink, peas." I put about one inch of water in it. She took it back to Scott to sit with him to have Happy Hour. He had a cold beer from the keg.

Crappy Sunday FINISHED

So thinking we would have a good Sunday I get up and go to work, an hour late. Once I got to work the paperwork I need to do my job was jacked. Yeah ME! This means longer work day for me. Then I remember to call my friend Nathan to ask to pick me up BBQ at the Austin Airport, I'm late the plane already left. CRAP! So I leave work. My cell phone has died and now my charger isn't working, NO cell phone.

Okay driving home thinking of what needs to be done:
1. Call Ang, see when she is getting to town
2. Clean house for family dinner
3. Make grocery list for Scott
4. Organize Monday breakfast with friends
5. Find Ryan

So by now I am driving through the ghetto. Odd 10:30am on Sunday no one's out. Make the turn to the street that leads to mine, HMMM only 3 people out at the first house, "where is everyone." Make the turn on to Admiral, no one's out. WAIT what are those 7 guys doing walking down my street. They don't belong here. Dang that kid's yellow shoes are ugly. Steve isn't vacuuming his lawn. Jump out of my truck walk around the back to get something out of the passenger side. Hit the door locks, shut the door, and start to walk into the house. Why is that kid picking something up in the "Naked Mexicans" yard. THWACK! What the #*%*! Shit that dumb ass hit my truck with a rock. Damn he busted out my window.

I run to the front door yelling for the phone.

To be continued. Got to go to breakfast with the friends.

Continuing NOW...

Okay we are back from breakfast.

So I get on quickly with 911 and Scott takes off in the truck to slow down the kids until the cops arrive. The 911 lady asked for a description of the kids. "All 7 of them?" Okay. All 7 are black males, 12-15 years of age, all 7 have on baggie jeans, 2 have on BIG white t-shirts, 1 has on BRIGHT yellow tennis shoes, a few have on dark sweatshirts, and some have on hats. Okay so now the cops are on the way. Scott comes home. Scott leaves of the store and sees the cops have the kids. Now PD calls me back and says "we have officers in the area detaining some kids." Me "It's them, my husband just drove past." Lady "if we need anything else we will call you back."

About 10 minutes goes by and a knock at the door. Why Gee it is an officer. "We have some kids detained, would you mind getting shoes on and coming to try to identify them." So now I get to ride in the BACK of a patrol car. THIS is now the point my neighbors are ALL outside doing stuff. Off I go. Around the corner, before we stop I say "it's them." The officer says "we have 2 in the car we are going to take out one at a time." First one is the kid that through the rock. "It's him." The second one is the kid in the yellow tennis shoes.

Now at this point the moral of the story is if your friends are going to do something stupid don't wear clothing that makes you stick out.

I get to ride back to my house and the officer tells me that the other officer will be by to take the report. So I hang out to wait to give my report. Officer shows up and I give the run down. Then I get a business card with officer name, number, and case number. He then tells me the kid is going to juvy, it is a misdemeanor crime, and will be released to his mom. Also that he should be ordered to pay restitution. So basically the kid will say that he can't pay and get community service. Somewhere in the city of Stockton someone will get free labor and I still get to pay for my busted window.

So now that we are done dealing with this, Poop's eye is swollen shut from a wild party Saturday night at Kymn's house. Ang is almost to my house and I still haven't eaten. Happy Crappy Sunday!

Following the Crowd

I have been meaning to do this since I got an e-mail last month. But... So today all my friends did it on their blogs, in order to stop e-mail saying "do it, do it, do it." I did it. I think Scott even go some extra rhythm. Enjoy!

The Pfeifle Jingle

By the way Jack's head is to big to be an elf.

Tis the Season...

For the made rush to get it all done! Fa La La La La La La

So this morning me and Poop head to Starbucks to have our coffee, Christmas shop, eat breakfast and make our to do list for the day. Yes all this was done at Starbucks plus see our friend Rhonda. Poop's coffee is the Organic Chocolate Milk. Then it was off to Home Goods for some additional shopping. The list didn't look as good as shopping.

My mom has asked to post a picture of the tree in Scott's living room, so here it is! My tree is going up tomorrow.

Yes the tree in Scott's living room is upside down. We love it! We have much more room because of it. The bottom 3 feet is non breakable ornaments for Jackson and Delaney. So far so good.

Tomorrow is Scott's office meeting. Every year we do something for the ladies (6 of them) in the office. This year is a Christmas Coffee Break. They are getting a holiday bag with a coffee cup filled with 2 kinds of biscotti, a small package of coffee, chocolate peppermint sticks, and a peppermint flavoring spoon. Also in the bag is a chocolate dipped pretzel, chocolate dipped graham crackers, a bag of candy, a small box of truffles and a Christmas flip flop note pad.

Tomorrow pictures of the Bordello Quilt. I am hoping to have half of the center done tonight.

Tutu Tuesday!

Yes I know it is Wednesday. I meant to post this yesterday so here it is.

I made Poop a red tutu to wear when she has her picture taken with Santa. The only problem is she figured out how to get it on and OFF by herself. I can just see a naked Poop picture with Santa!

Second this is the fabric for my bordello quilt. I am still having some issues with the greens but these are the two choices I am down too. I think I like the bottom layout better. There is only a small difference between the placement of the first four greens.

Deceptively Delicious

I heard about this book about 2 months ago from a friend. She gave me a quick overview of the concept. I thought hmmm, sounds interesting if I see it I'll flip through it. Black Friday I was at Target, saw this cookbook and flipped through it. I then picked up my cell and called my friend to see if it is the same book. IT IS! The cookbook is Deceptively Delicious by Jessic Seinfeld.

Okay so the concept of the cookbook is "Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Foods." What that means is hiding the healthy foods kids don't really want to try in stuff they love. Some of the things are Chicken Nuggets with any veggie puree, Quesadillas with butternut squash puree, and Brownies with spinach and carrot puree.

I am trying out my first recipe tonight, Chocolate Chip Cookies. They have Chickpeas, oats and fat free margarine spread. They smell just like a Toll House Cookie. The texture is a little different because of the oats. You don't really notice the Chickpeas. I kinda like them. I am hoping to make a puree or two on my days off this week so I can try out a few other recipes.
I purchased my copy at Target. I did see them cheaper at Costco today. I would say this is a worth having book if you have a picky eater in the house.

The Count Down Is On!!!

Only 23 days until Christmas and 1 paycheck, for me. Crap not enough time!!! I only have 1 of my trees up, with 2 to go. Scott is putting lights on the house as I type. I built and lite a village today. I still need to wrap more gifts, decorate the entryway and clean/decorate the bathroom today. Scott's living room is done for the most part, my living room is being used for storage still. This weeks plan is to get my living room emptied, cleaned and decorated. Then all that will be left is getting the kitchen decorated.

I have discovered this year I have more village than table. I have about 8 buildings and 10 accessories that were not able to fit on the table. Scott even noticed! As soon as I hit the on button Scott said "Somethings missing. Where's the squeak?" My Krispy Kreme has a moving piece that sometimes squeaks, it is one that didn't make the village. This year there are 28 buildings, 8 accessories, 7 cars, 5 trees, 4 motorcycles, and 2 horse pulled wagons.

As for other holiday festivities I am hoping to start my baking this week. I also have 4 Christmas parties to attend. And I am hoping to start my holiday sewing. Good thing I'm only working 4 days this week!

Side note, my dad is getting his stitches out tomorrow and we will know more on his hand then.

End of The Week!

We made it through the week. This is an accomplishment for us. It seems like Sunday was long ago, not just seven days. I going to give you the highs and lows.

Sunday-My dad's hand was extremely swollen, red and in pain. My mom and I went to the R. Lily Show and Tell party, neither of us won the Mystery quilt contest. Thank you to all who voted for us.

Monday- My dad was in so much pain with his hand he couldn't sleep. His work sent him to the doctor to have it looked at. The drained it and took a culture. I had some challenges training a new co-worker. I got to see Gina at the quilt shop and picked up Poop's new Nigh, night. Delaney fell, busted her head open in the shower and we got to go to ER. After spending 4 hours, until 1am, in ER without seeing a doctor we went home.

Tuesday- My dad went back to the doctor, they said it is worse than they thought(it had abscessed) and referred him out to a specialist. The specialist scheduled surgery for Wednesday. Dad was bite by a spider while loading a pipe at work. We took Poop to the doctor, and found the 1/2" whole in her head. Dr. Cahill said she should have had stitches but since they weren't put done in the first 2 hours that the ER wouldn't have done them if we stuck around anyway. Poop didn't have a concussion. I had another challenging day at work. Friend's grandma was moved from Stockton to UCSF for medical treatment.

Wednesday- My dad had surgery. His hand was bad on the inside to but had not reached the bone, GOOD NEWS! They ended up draining it and packing it. He was scheduled to go back to the doctor on Friday. IF his hand is not improving he is going into isolation at the hospital. Another Challenging day at work. I have to run to Lathrop to pick up deposit bags for Thursday. I refuse to grocery shop! Picked up Christmas photos at the Mall. Refuse to go to the Mall on Black Friday!

Thursday- Happy Thanksgiving! I got to do my job! I enjoy doing what I do and I am good at it! Scott smoked the traditional Brisket and made Old No. 7 sweet potatoes, cranberry fritters, chocolate pecan pie with chocolate Jack Daniels Ice Cream. I ordered Christmas cards from Costco. Aunt Steph and Uncle Victor came down from Reno tonight.

Friday- My Day Off! Notice this is the first time you are reading that. I was out of the house around 6:15am. Stopped by work to send out the schedule. Met Linda out at Trinity Park to go to Office Depot, JoAnn's and Target. I SHOPPED! I even got a few gifts. Dad called he doesn't have to go to the hospital! YEAH! He has to go back on Monday. Do doctor's know how much diesel cost? More than gas. Went out to do more shopping with Scott and Poop. Came home and decorated more of Scott's living room. The three of us went out to visit at my parents house tonight.

Saturday- It's really has only been a week. Work was better. I got to spend most of the day sewing in Manteca with my quilting friends. I got my first of 10 gifts for my friends made. I will whip some more out this week. Scott and Poop are at Scott's uncle's birthday party. I am cleaning the living room waiting for my sister to call so I can meet her at JoAnn's so Nikki can pick out fabric for a dress.

A Cry For HELP!

Friends I know I can count on you for this one. A friend of mine is trying to collect 150 empty adult size shoe boxes. She is going to fill and decorate these boxes with Christmas for under privileged children.

If you have some shoe boxes that you would like to get rid of let me know, leave a message here, call me, e-mail, whatever, and I will come get them from you. If you are like me and don't happen to have an empty shoe box, take this opportunity to do some charity work and go buy a few pairs of shoes so you can donate the box. It will make you feel good.

Thanks everyone!

There's A Light!!!

There's a light at the end of the tunnel! Nah. It's a train, I just heard the whistle! LOL!

Things have been a little busy around here. I have been working six days a week because we are short handed. We did hire someone, the light. Now I am training her, it will take 3 weeks of training before she is on her own, the whistle. So this means a few more weeks with one day off, the train. I am hoping that around the first week of December I will be back to working only 5 days a week at my PART TIME JOB. Right now everyone in my department is working like this, I'm not alone.

The bright side of life, I will find out Sunday if I am one of the top 3 winners in the R. Lily Stem Mystery Quilt Contest. If you are in Modesto between now and Sunday at 1pm stop by, see the quilts, and vote. PLUG for me, I have been told I might be number 5, view my quilt below before going to vote. I have almost finish ripping the quilting out of my Scrappier Than Scrappy and am getting ready to load it again, to quilt again. I am also working on making custom coffee cup sleeves, so I don't have to use the paper ones at the coffee house. I am still working on ideas for Christmas gift for our friends. Any help out their???

Scott is still working in San Ramon and building the two custom houses in West Sacramento. He is hoping to be driving the Blazer again soon. The transmission is being replaced this week and a few other things are being looked at. He will be happy again.

Poop is perfecting that art of the pout. When she is told no or she can't have/do something she gives a loud sign, crosses her arms over her chest, sticks out her bottom lip, tilts her head down and look up at up though her eyelashes. She is very good at it. She learns new words everyday and is trying to sing her ABC's.

Good Poop News!

I took Poop to the eye doctor today for her drooping eyelid, the left one. She has exactly that a drooping eyelid. It is less than a millimeter. We do need to put drops in her eye to help with the minor puffiness.

Droopy eyelids are rated on a five step scale starting at Mild going to Severe. The doctor rated her at a Very, Very Mild. The can do surgery to help correct a droopy eye but he recommended that we walk out of any doctor's office that even suggested her to have surgery. He also dilated her eyes to check inside. At this point he said she did not have any noticeable near or far sightedness. He doesn't need to see her again unless something else comes up. He also said I was a good mom for bringing her in to be checked out and not letting it go.

We feared she might have had "lazy eye" which would have required patches and surgery.

Side note for Lisa: Poop fell climbing onto Linda's bed last week and hurt her arm. She cried for 45 minutes solid and wouldn't move her fingers. I debated calling the doctor. Then all I could think was POOR RICHIE. I called the doctor and took her in. Her arm isn't broken but did have a soft tissue bruise. POOR RICHIE.

PIF Time!

It's may turn to PIF. I will recieive my PIF from Gina, in turn I post a PIF on my blog.

Pay It Forward rules:
I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.

Who will be the lucky three?

Almost Done!

I have finished piecing the top center of my Mystery Quilt. I am very happy with it. It still has a pieced border to be put on for the contest and IF I choose I can add a solid border to it. I am hoping to have the pieced border on by Tuesday night so I can decide IF I am going to do a solid border and and audition fabric for it.

So here it is...

Side note Scott has primed the Armoir for my Studio. It should be painted and have shelves this weekend and be ready to go into the Studio.

Mystery Solved!

I picked up Step 6 to my mystery quilt Guilty As Charged. I love it! I am hoping to have it finished this weekend. It is set on point so I am working the corners to the middle. It also has a pieced first border. I am going to add a stopper and second border. It should finish about a queen size with a good drop on all sides. Here is where I'm at so far. I have 2 more rows ready to sew on.

Are you ready for it G?

Treat Peaz!

Poop got to go Trick or Treating on the Miracle Mile with her cousin's yesterday. She got the "Treat Peaz" part down really well. She had a ton of fun.

All of the girls before hitting the Mile. Alli was a Cow Girl Riding a Horse, Nat was Darth Vador, Nik was an Angel, and Poop was a Witch.

WIP Wednesday! (Work In Progress)

It is WIP Wednesday which means I have a little time to sew. I have finished Step 5 of my Mystery Quilt and I will be picking up Step 6 this afternoon. I can wait to see what it is. I think it will be a star of some sort. I also am hoping to do a little quilting. I have 2 that are ready to do.

I even took a few pictures of projects. The first is a Travel size pillow case made out of Minkie for Poop, it is on a pillow. It is the perfect size for a toddler. Yes it has monsters on the cuff. I made this out of the left overs from her blanket.

The second is a quilt I sandwiched last night that I need to start quilting. It is one of the baby quilts I am behind on. Since some of my friends can't take a hint THIS ONE HERE is for Sarah, HEATHER. I hope you like it!

Halloween pictures to be posted tonight. Be safe everyone.

Love Free Stuff

I love to get stuff for FREE. I just signed up to get a sample of the new Downy fabric softener for FREE! I got a FREE cookie from Kashi two weeks ago. They are running an add to trade in your snack. You get to choose your FREE Kashi snack to be mailed to you. The cookie was very good, only 2 points and I would purchase in the future. I don't limit the FREE stuff to just me. I got Scott a FREE sample of Folgers Gourmet Selections coffee. (Promotion has ended.) He in turn purchased another flavor in that line of coffee because he liked the sample.

I also love COUPONS! It's FREE money. So every Sunday we get the paper and I clip coupons. I don't clip all of them but ones for stuff we use, luxury item and new product I'd like to try. My favorite coupon it for FREE stuff. Last week I bought a Fabreeze candle, on sale, and got FREE Fabreeze airfreshener. Win, Win. Now I will tell you it does drive Scott insane to go grocery shopping with me. But he doesn't mind when I can save about $15 a trip just with my coupons.

I also LOVE using punch cards. Still drives Scott crazy. I have probably 15 cards ranging from fabric to scrapbooking to lingerie. Who would turn down FREE product just for buying stuff you were going to buy anyway. Speaking of I have a full punch card right now for $25 of FREE fabric at R. Lily Stem. Good thing I am going their Wednesday, 2.5 yards of FREE fabric just for me. I always get the FREE fabric for a project for me. I figure I deserve it after making stuff of everyone else that filled the punch card.

Poop has also scored on the FREE stuff. Pampers has a Gift to Grow program. On Pampers diapers, wipes and training pants are a 15 digit code. You enter the code and earn points. You can trade in your points for tons of stuff, toys, movie, pictures, ect. I got her a FREE Fisher Price reading system. It plugs into TV, has books on DVD and helps her learn to read. IT did cost me $13 for shipping. I figure I have to have diapers and wipes why not get FREE toys for using them? Of course I buy them on sale and with a coupon for extra savings.

What Do You Get...

When you take a White Wig and a bag full of Snakes to a quilt guild meeting? A LOT of questions. I am working on my Halloween costume for the party Saturday night. We are going as Greek gods. I have finished Scott's and need to start mine. Tonight was our guild meeting, so I took my wig to work on. I spent time sewing snakes into the white wig. I still have 2 snakes to go. I am then going to use the color hairspray to make the wig black, blue, green and purple to match my dress. I will post pictures next week of the party.

Big THANK YOU for those who have given me fabric for Poop's quilt!

Quilter's Cry For HELP!

Okay here we go. I am wanting to make Poop an I-Spy Quilt. I am in need of 5 inch squares of Novelty Fabrics, I am thinking around 90 squares. If anyone has a square (or more) that they would be willing to part with PLEASE let me know. I am hoping to piece the top as my New Year's Day Quilt project.

Please note I am NOT making the traditional octagon I-Spy quilt, I do have the template though. I am making Liz's last Mystery Class Quilt, scroll down to "What's Black, White and Red All Over." i am hoping to get to be big enough o fit her full size big girl bed.

Thanks Everyone!

Halloween

As some of you know we have Scott's company's annual Halloween Party coming up in a week. We look forward to going every year. The part we don't look forward to is coming up with a costume. Today is my only day off until the party, of course I have not spent it coming up with a costume. This year the party is back in San Francisco on Van Ness. We have our room. I have the time off work. We have no clue for a costume. How about tired parents?

The other kicker is I have not had time to get out the Halloween decorations. Besides the house not being decorated I have not found Poop's costume. I purchased it last year and packed it away. It is still away! I have bought her some accessories for it. I guess this weekend will be spent getting ready for Halloween.

Shopping at PIQF

You will be surprised but I didn't purchase that much at the show. I got this stunning necklace, made by Susan Christi in booth number 307, which is where she is every year. I now have 2 of these. They are really stunning to see, I get complements on them every time I wear them. Yesterday I probably told 20 people where to get one.

I bought some batiks for a quilt I have been hired to make.

The rest is for me. I got half yards of cottons, I lean toward black, white and red. Some specialty silks because I loved them. Four spools of variegated quilting thread, I do some of my own quilting. Last three patterns, Winter Wonderland, Baby Jacket(I have the pant pattern already) and Baby Burro.

The Winter Wonderland pattern can be done as a BOM (Block Of the Month). I think I am going to try it for next year. I will have to make time to get a lot of red work done but I think I can do it! My snowmen from last year are waiting to be quilted, hopefully this week.

Home From PIQF

I had a wonderful day at PIQF. These are a few of my favorite things:

Who doesn't like a little elephant butt! The quilter did a series of quilts based on African animals in movement.

This is Watermelon Pie. A few close ups below.

The quilt above was originally done in blues. It was stolen in Italy. The quilter's friends recommended that she reproduce it. She did so in reds for the anger she felt. It is very cool and had a lot of beading and thread work.

Above is the complete quilt. Below is one block of the quilt with 36 log cabin blocks in it! They aren't big blocks either!

This is a quilt about the galaxy. There was a trend this year with quilt having paper pieced stars and crystals on them.

More tomorrow!

Accomplishment

Small steps and you get stuff done! I have been working on the Pocket Full of Posies Quilt since last March. It did get put on the UFO list. Tonight I finished putting on the top and bottom border. It has taken a lot of time to motivate me to piece the border. It is now waiting for me to go to PIQF to buy the perfect piece of orange and pink Valorie Wells flannel from the Stichin' Post. This way I can sandwich it and start the freemotion quilting on it. (I do small stuff on my own.) I also have another UFO out being quilted by Gina. It will be amazing 2 UFO's done in 1 month! Accomplishment.

I have been reflecting this week on my New Year's Resolution's. Trying to remember what they all were, how many I have finished and what I can still get done. I have gotten 7 cleaning projects done around the house, my goal was one a month. We have been cooking at home a few times a week 3-5, my goal was cooking once a week. *The exception was September we cooked at home 27 out of 30 days!* I have made 5 quilts for philanthropy, goal was one a month. My goal was to finish one UFO a month, I know of 1 that is completely finished. Here's the funny part when the computer crashed they couldn't retrieve the UFO list from Word. So I might have finished more and not know they were on the list! LOL Last was to read some classics. I have bought a few but have cut out most of my reading time, something about a kid and job. I know I will not Accomplish all of my goals. BUT I am telling myself that I set these goals not knowing I would be returning to work this year and telling myself that Poop would still be sleeping 16 to 18 hours a day. Both of those factors have changed.

What have you Accomplished this year? I am off to get my copy of The Complete Works of William Shakespear and to start writing my New UFO List.

Wonderful Wednesday!

So nothing exciting has happened today. I figured I would share anyway. First is our shopping find yesterday.

I purchase three toss pillow for my new bedding yesterday at Home Goods. I got a killer deal on the bedding all but 2 pillow on clearance. The mattress pad 2 pillows and new duvet all came in a set for $33. The goldie duvet cover and 2 shams were $29. Then I got 400 thread count flat sheet, fitted sheet, and 2 packages of king cases for $13.98 each. The coverlet was $14.98 and the rainbow stripe pillow $4.98. My pillows yesterday were about $15 each. I am very excited about it! I am still looking for a skirt though.

Our next goal yesterday was sewing.

This is a philanthropy quilt for my guild. I was able to get the whole thing done while Poop took her nap! I was sewing on the last row when she woke up. We had to go to Mc D' for burgers after looking at the fabric for 2 hours!

This is a quilt made with a nine patch and the 6 1/2 inch X Block template. The pattern is called Pocket Full of Posies. The border is more work than the quilt top. This a quilt for a friends little girl. I hope you like it! I am going to look for backing this weekend at PIQF, the Stitchin' Post is going to be their!

Terrific Tuesday!!!

Another week has come and gone. Now we are back to my day off. I have started the list of things to do and things I want to do. I really don't think both list will be finished. I think we'll start with the want to do list, sew and then go shopping!

I am still working on the Christmas gift list. I have almost finished the shopping for the ladies in Scott's office, I am waiting on a catalog order and need a trip to Costco. I am still trying to come up with an idea for Scott's "Girlfriends" and my "Boyfriends", Kymn and Heather too. I feel like I need to top last years gift, how do I do that? Last years gift was amazing if I do say so myself. Anyone with any ideas would be helpful.

I have been asked to make a quilt for my friend Ang's mom. It will be blues, greens and a little purple. I am going to PIQF this Saturday so that is where I will start shopping for fabric. The Vendor List is impressive, I can't wait to shop! Should I sew something for our friends? Hmmm.

Poop went to the doctor yesterday for a 18 month check up, yes we are a month late. She weighs 26lbs and 10oz and is 34 1/2 inches long!!! This takes her back up to the 97 percentile, she dropped to 90 for awhile. Here's the funny part her doctor keeps telling me she is going to be tall. I have to keep saying that she will top out soon. According to Dr B she is smart. She was trying to get his cell phone and use his laptop. She knows more than the required 7 words for her age and can understand some basic commands, sit and run. So now she is going to be a tall genius. LOL!!!

Speaking of genius my friend Nathan is going to be teaching a Economics class in the spring for the community college in Texas! I am very excited for him. He is currently working on his PhD in economics at UT, you know the big football school. I think we should all move to Texas and take Mr. Benedict's class.

Sometimes I wonder...

Do you ever wonder how your mates mind works? Do you ever just look at them and think or say out loud "where the hell did you get that from?" I live with Scott so that should just end this blog but I will go on...

His mind works like NO ONE elses. Tonight Delaney and him walked down the hallway, as they got to the end she stopped at the light switch, pointed at the switch and made a noise. Now I figure when she does this she wants to turn it out. Scott has no clue what this all means so asks me. I tell him "she wants to turn it out." Scott stands there and looks at Poop while she jumps with her arm in the air to turn off the light. Important facts here Poop is about 30 inches tall, light switch is 48 inches from the floor, and Poop can only jump an inch off the floor. I said "she might need some help." Scott says "I thought she could do it herself." Me "you really think she is going to jump high enough to turn it off? PICK HER UP!!!!"

Now I realize this is the same person who thinks it is easier to install my ceiling fan with live electricity because when it zaps you you know your doing it right. The one who poured a half bottle of bubble bath into the tub and turned on the jets and didn't think the bubbles would get taller than the small children. The same one who has shot himself with a nail gun numerous times, removed them all with a nail puller and didn't think a tetanus shot might be needed. Also who thinks a 2 foot long 4x4 is a chew toy for the dog.

The photo is of us on the cruise. I'm in the background enjoying the sun at the pool. Joe is standing behind Scott and Scott is wearing his BJ's t-shirt.

Only 85 Days!

There are only 85 days until Christmas. Can you believe it! I can't. I have made the official list of who gets gifts. Man, that's a chore! Then I started on the closet to inventory already purchased gifts, not as many as I normally have. That SUCKS! Now I am working on the ideas for gifts to give. Not many ideas are happening. I actually have 3 list for the gifts, things to buy, things to make and things to cook/bake. So for it is gift cards to Food 4 Less for everyone! LOL!

Really this is what I am hoping to have done before Christmas.

Unfortunately the are all for me! Not a gift in the bunch. I am having a few thoughts on gifts to make, if I can find the time.

I have already received one shipment from ABC of stuff I have ordered for gifts, mostly stocking stuffers and containers. I did order another fake tree and it is on the way. I can't wait to get it! It is very different then anything you have seen. I am thinking we might have a holiday party too. Nathan when will you be here? I also have a list of stuff to order from Current, mostly filler stuff.

I still need to figure out what we are wearing for the Christmas photo and when to get it done. Update the address list for the cards and figure out a count. Start decorating November 1st. Then it is time to wait patiently by the mail box for one of my favorite gifts, The Texas Anderson's Christmas CD. (That's a hint guys!)

So did you know Christmas was around the corner? Are you ready? Are you making any gifts?

Laney's Luscious Lounge Wear

On Sunday I went to Quilt In The Garden and bought the most wonderful flannels. As soon as I saw them I knew Laney needed PJ's out of them. The flannels are Fleurish Flannels by Valorie Wells, she was the featured artist at the quilt show. The flannel is so soft, I am thinking I might need a set of lounge wear too.

I still need to do the buttons on the top.

I Feel The Pressure

All my friends have blogged today so I must. So this one is for Aunt Steph and Uncle Victor.

First for Aunt Steph the girl has more shoes than she will ever need. I think the count in her closet might come close to the count in yours. She wakes up and demands to have a pair of shoes. She has figured out how to put them on herself. The better part is she will bring you your shoes if you don't have a pair on. She is learning how to throw the perfect fit. We have taught her that she must kick her legs as she screams at us. If she is standing she stomps her feet. But sometimes the fit calls for it she throws herself to the ground and kick her legs. We are encouraging her to pound her arms too, she hasn't caught on yet.

Uncle Victor she is becoming quite the foodie. She goes to the fridge for Sheese(cheese) constantly. She even does the "Happy Sheese Dance" while you get it out for her. Cheese is one of her favorite foods. She loves biscuits too, we have to stop her at 2. She will eat almost anything. Roast beef lunch meat is the ONE thing we have found she wont eat. She loves veggies, fruit, and nuts. You now have another one for Starbuck's in the morning. That is an Aunt Linda thing not the Mom's.

Update-
While typing this Poop also found a stick of butter that I am bringing to room temp to bake with and started eating just butter. She ran from the kitchen so I couldn't get it off her fingers. At least Grandma Delaney had a slice of Genova with her stick of butter.

End of A Weekend...

I have been some what productive this weekend. First of all I had the weekend off! Yeah ME! I also got in a ton of sewing time. Yeah ME! Third Nikole came to watch Poop so I could sew! Yeah ME! I also did 6 loads of laundry. Not so much fun.

I did get in a lot of sewing time though. I got step 4 done on my mystery quilt Guilty As Charged, the next step comes out on the 30th and the final step on Halloween. It has to be a complete top and turned in by 5pm on November 9th to be in the contest. Wish me luck! I also got binding and a sleeve on the quilt I had Gina quilt for me. Pretty amazing for me, I hate putting on a sleeve. Gina did wonderful hot pink feathers on it for me. And the third items I worked on was some baby stuff for Cy. I covered the edge on 3 cloth diapers for burp rags, I made a pleated ruffle and put it on a furry blanket and to complete the set I made a diaper and wipe carrier (it needs a better name).

I also got to go to Quilt In the Garden in Livermore today. I got to chat with Valerie Wells about baby stuff, say Hi to Alex Anderson and then I was in time to take quilts down form the trees. I might have pictures of that later in the week.

Scott has started the houses in West Sacramento, so this was his last weekend off for a while. Can you believe someone is actually building a house right now!!! There are two houses and they will be rentals when they are complete. We are hoping that will be around Thanksgiving.

Life Skills

Poop turned 18 months at the beginning of the month. WOW! I was worried for a few days that she might be a little behind. She doesn't know her ABC's, she can't sing Twinkle, Twinkle and she's not Potty trained. Then I started thinking about it, when was the last time you had to sing the ABC's or Twinkle, Twinkle on a job interview? At least she is trying to figure out how the toilet works, and when you tell her she needs a dry butt she walks to her bedroom.

I have taught her some life skills though. When you asked her to find a diamond she looks for earrings and wedding rings. She knows the she's (cheese) and uice (juice) are in the fridge. She gets her own fork for dinner each night and puts it in the sink when she's done. Scott has taught her to haul out the garbage, they each take a bag. Also she learned how to use a screwdriver and hammer. And to always have an extra cordless tool battery. Most important is get the credit cards out of dad's wallet and give the money to mom.

Hump Day!

Today for most is hump day, for me it is Saturday and Sunday rolled into one. Since it is my weekend we are working on getting my Studio put back together. I have hung the sheers that will now block off the closet and started to put my books back in the bookcases.

We went to Ikea last night for new shelves and bookcases but the did not have the shelves I wanted in black. For now I am using the old ones and waiting to decided on what to do with them. I did buy and new chair for sewing. I can't wait to get it put together. It has wheels!

Since I am handling all my stuff, I really want to spend the day creating and not cleaning. I have some great projects to finish and others just waiting to be started! I can't wait! I have also found 10-15 quilt tops that are in 1 of 3 stages: needs borders, sandwiched but not quilted or waiting to go to a quilter. I wonder if I can find one. HMMMM!

The Armoir is half way to being painted. Every time I do what Scott says needs to be done before painting, he tells me there is more to be done. Example he says to sand off the shiny finish. I do that. Then he says that it needs sanded again. I do that. Now he is saying to sand it again with a finer grit. I snapped. Without yelling and providing Saturday entertainment for the neighbors, I explained that he is not communicating what really needs done. He responds that he told me to sand it. I said "I did sand it!" I then had to explain that when he told me "I need to sand it before I painted it." That I took that to mean that I need to sand it 1 time in order to paint it. I then asked "Exactly how many times and with what grit do I need to sand the armoir before I can paint it?" Now it has changed from "I need to sand it" to "I need to sand it 3 or 4 times before it can be painted." Needless to say the Armoir is not going into to Studio this week.

Update on the 21 day challenge, we made it 13 days before we ate out. Last night since we went to Ikea with our friend Joe we picked up Mc D's on the way. We will be cooking dinner at home tonight though, Peach grill Chicken and brown rice.

It's that time of year

Every September I get into a baking mode. It seems like the "thing" to do. I start going through the cookbooks to see what new things I can try to bake. I keep a stack of recipes from Food network that I collect though out the year. I purchase gift containers to put the Christmas baking in. I start making a list of cooking tools I need. My friends get calls/e-mail to be recipe testers.

This year is no different. Chris I will be baking brownies for you. The Red Velvet Cupcakes will have Green Cream Cheese Frosting when Nathan gets here. Chocolate Chip cookies lite on chocolate chips heavy on the walnuts for Joe. Mom we're doing up a batch of Peanut Butter balls. I need to do a few batches of Jelly, pepper, pomegranate, maybe something else. It has been a while since I did a batch of truffles too, Uncle Victor's birthday is coming up!

As for new recipes to test I have a few from Ina, Linzer Cookies, Coconut Macaroons and a Crostata. Betty's new Fall Cookbook looks very promising. I am trying one from there tomorrow. Also I am trying a few from Jaime and Bobby Deans new Cookbook, everyone needs to buy a copy of it. They have their recipe for Mac and Cheese in it, YUMMY!

So when you see me buying 20lbs of sugar, 5 lbs of butter, another 5 lbs of Crisco, and flour by the sacks, remember I am making it for you. I also take request.

21 days...

So theory is that it takes 21 days to form or change a habit. IF you do something for 21 continuous days it will then become habit for you to do it.

With this said tonight is night 8 of cooking at home. Now I did not set out to prove the 21 day theory but we will see what happens. The 18th will be day 21.

Some of you may remember that it was our New Year's Goal to cook dinner at home one night a week this year. August we kind of slacked off on that. We are back on track and even ahead of the planned goal. We have even made a small dent in the freezer. The flip side of this is that we may have put a few restaurants out of business.

I have even baked dessert a few times. These are the Red Velvet Jumbo Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting I made yesterday, from scratch.

I challenge you to take on the 21 day theory. Cook, clean, exercise, eat veggies, whatever make a change.

We're Back!

I had a wonderful birthday. I got to have dinner per-party with Diana and Margie. Then 12 of us went to Dinner My Way to do some meal prep. We had a blast! In fact we had so much fun some of us are going back on the 28th.

We had a great time on the cruise. Before we even made it out of Long Beach the guys were asking "When are we going again?" I asked if we could make it out of LA before setting a date. We are planning to go again next year. So all of you who said "I wish we could go" start saving up! We are leaning toward summer, pre hurricane season. I really would like to enjoy the pool on my fifth cruise! By the way all of you with small children the Ocean Adventure Club is for 3 and up also the price for the cruise is the same for kids and adults. Poop will be staying home again.

Speaking of Poop she is 18 months now. Man where did the time go? She is getting more teeth, like she didn't have enough to bite me with already. She talks lots now, we can even understand some of it. She can bark like a dog and is learning to say moo. She is very tall. We have her check up in a few weeks so we'll see where she is comparred to other kids. I will get her pictures done soon I promise.

Now for the Studio update...it is in progress. No, really I am trying to have everything out by Thursday, my next day off. That way we can start painting and get trim installed this weekend. Everything has to be in the room by the 14th. That way our guest can come into the house instead of hanging out in the front yard. I promise pictures soon.

I'm still here!

Nothing exciting has been happening to blog about. I have reached another day off. We will be shopping for school supplies and clothes a little later with Linda and the girls. We also need to fit in a trip to the Post Office. Tomorrow is an exciting day with a trip planned to Tracy! I know you all are jealous about me getting to go to Tracy without you!

I am working on getting kits together for my guilds BOM in August. I am doing Autumn Spice in Moda's Holly Jolly line. Of course I am cutting an extra top to make for myself. I am also trying to locate Moda's Christmas Past line to make kits for too. I am hoping to have 56-60 kits to hand out, which means 2 quilts to win.

Nikole has been helping watch Poop for me. She comes over and takes care of Poop while I get cleaning and stuff done. The new term for it is a "Mother's Helper." She is trying to earn money for our guilds bus trip to Road to California. According to her she is going to need about $1000 for the weekend. I told her she needed to find more chores to do.

Day Off

Why does it seem like a day off never last long enough? I know I don't have enough of them. I feel like I haven't got anything done and the day is almost over.

I did go to Target, do a little cross stitch, clear part of the air hockey table and cut the bases for my birthday party invitations. I still need to go back to Target, finish the air hockey table, and actually make the invitations. Never mind the "To Do" list for my day off. I really wanted to work on my sewing studio since I wanted it done in 3 more weeks.

Poop is doing good. We had a small bout with the flu earlier this week. She is doing much better today. The knot on her head is almost gone, along with the bruising. She still thinks she is big enough to get out of her highchair on her own. We have lowered it so if she does try to jump it's not a far fall.

2. Wood spoons form the store in Jackson

5. Gift Cards for JoAnn's, R Lily, Home Goods, Dinners My Way

T.G.I.F.

Today is really my Monday. So I got a lot done on this weeks to do list and I even got stuff done that wasn't on the list. I am hoping to get a few more done before the end of the weekend.

Today I went to Big Valley Thrift. Now I love to shop but I am not really a thrift store shopper. I highly recommend shopping at Big Valley Thrift. I went in to buy all the kids jeans, for making Decoupage Jeans. I got name brand jeans (Roxy, Gap, Levi, Tommy, Limited Too) for $2.98 all the way down to $0.24. The store was clean and the clothes are in great condition. So now the jeans are in the wash and I have been playing with fabric and waiting to make the first pair.

In the mean time, Poop fell off a chair last night with grandma and has a knot on her head. She is learning to sing La Cuca Racha. Maybe we should have started with Twinkle, Twinkle. She also has decided that she is big enough to get out of the highchair when she is done eating. We are waiting for her to take a header out of that.

And last but not least the transmition in the Blazer has started to go out. All that is left is second gear and drive. A friend will be looking at it on Monday to let us know about repairing it. We are hoping for good news. The Blazer does have 315,000 miles on it though and this is the first major repair.

Talented Tuesday!

Yes I know I am posting this on Wasted Wednesday but here we are. This is a picture of the second sample purse I made for my class. It is made out of a satin type fabric. The inside is solid black and the outside is burgundy with flocked black fleur de lis. Man those french classes are paying off.

These are the cards I made last night at Stamp Club. They were so easy and so cute! I love the Groovy Guava and Wasabi Green card. I need to order that stamp set.

It's All In The Bag!

I used Saturday night to make the sample and write the directions for the Purse Class I am teaching in a few weeks. This bag is so quick and easy to make. The bonus is it's reversible! That's 2 for the price of 1! How can you beat that!

GO! GO! GO!

Delaney is saying so many words. Go! Go! Go! is one of many. She is also saying I do it! and OUT! as she pounds on the sliding glass door. She is loving the back yard. Which in turn means we are spending much more time out their. She is getting so big. She is understanding when you tell her to do something and she even does it. She loves to help with the laundry. She can climb up and go down her slide all by herself too.

For me I feel like it is GO! GO! GO! all the time. Today was my day off this week. I took Nikole to the fabric store in Modesto, R. Lily Stem, to get fabric for the purse class I am teaching at the beginning of August. I need to make one or two samples to be shown at the quilt meeting in 2 weeks. I have also been trying to get 2 quilts finished this month, not looking good. I have started on restoring the armior. I am almost finished with sanding it down. Scott needs to take the doors off for me to finish it and he is going to see what he needs to do for the repair work. I am leaning toward painting it red. I have also started to clean out the Studio so it can get painted too. Tonight I am off to take a scrapbook class. I will post pictures soon. It will be a complete girls album that just needs pictures added.

The Studio

After reading my friend Heather's blog last week, I have decide my studio does not inspire me. So with this said I am going to redecorate my studio, for my birthday gift to me by my birthday. This is going to require me to do a lot of painting, cleaning, and getting rid of stuff. Maybe even finish some stuff along the way.

I am inspired by Heather Bailey's studio. I think it is beautiful, I really love it! The more I look at it though I realize I couldn't work in that space either. I really am NOT a pink person. I am going to buy some of her new fabric line, Fresh Cut by Free Spirit. It will be perfect for the purse class I am teaching.

I think I need to start by changing the colors of my studio into colors I love and enjoy working with. I am wanting some funk with classic touches. Also it will need to be vintage with a modern twist. I really need to stop watching DIY! LOL! With all this said I am going to paint the walls White, better to see true color, and my accent colors will be black, silver and of course RED!

Happy 4th of July

Wishing everyone a Happy and Safe 4th of July!

One Man's Trash

So I was driving home from my parents one afternoon a few weeks ago and in front of one of the houses what do I see? An Armior with a sign that says free! I promptly call my sister to tell her to go get it and if she doesn't want it I will take it. So Linda sends my dad down the street to get the free Armior. My dad loads it up and drives it home. I am sure there were some choice words for both of his daughters durring this.

Remember I said I was driving past it. Linda calls me and says she doesn't want it and it is falling apart. Great! Now I have to do something with it!

I called my dad last Friday night and asked if he could deliver my treasure to me on Saturday? So Saturday afternoon with a big smile on his face, because he was getting rid of it, my dad delivered my treasure. Unsure what I was going to do with it I had Scott put it in the garage.

Sunday while reading my friend Heather's blog, Heather this is where I need your help, I decided I am going to remodel my Studio! My Armior is being refinished, in stages, and will be going into my NEW and IMPROVED Studio!

The Big Day

We are home from Lodi Outpatient. Poop got her tubes in and all is now going well. The whole process from walking in the front door to walking out the back door was 1 hour and 15 minutes.

She looked very cut in her toddler gown, ID anklet, and hair net. She was only away from us for about 15 minutes. They only had to gas her to put her to sleep, no I.V. She did not wake up well though. She was like holding a 20 pound bag of jello, she couldn't help hold herself up. She cried because she was very disoriented and out of it for about 15 minutes. The other bonus was she began to through up, just like Aunt Linda.

We stopped at Mc Donald's and got her pancakes. She is now a happy baby.

Hey Y'All!

I am home from Texas. I had a great time on my trip. I could relocate to Austin and live very happy. I had a wonderful visit with all my friends their. I got to see a ton of things, eat great food and wonderful shopping, see list below. It did rain some but no flooding where I was, while I was their. I actually had beautiful weather, not to hot, not to much rain and not to humid.

I saw:
The Alamo
San Antonio Riverwalk
Southfork Ranch
Where JFK got shot
UT, GO Longhorns!
LBJ Presidential Museum
Texas State Capital
The Bats, fly out from under the bridge

I ate at:
Salt Lick BBQ
Chick-Fil-A
Cocktails all along 6th street
Alamo Draft House, Dinner and movie
Reunion Tower (in Dallas), cocktails
Rudy's BBQ
Whataburger
PF Chang
Chuy's, where Jenna Bush got busted for under age drinking

I shopped at:
San Marcos Outlets, better than Vegas
Cabella's
The Domain
And Austin's Vintage District.

Poop update. She is a dare devil! She has a black eye, various bumps, lumps, bruises and scratches from where she fell in the gravel. I swear she could sit perfectly still and some how fall and land on her face! We did her pre-op appointment yesterday and she is ready to have tubes put in on Monday. Pray that this works!

Scott has finally taken over the job in San Ramon. Also they got the changes done for the plans for the house in West Sacramento and they are back with the city. It looks like they will be breaking ground their soon.
